Camps / Retreats
Muscular Dystrophy NSW’s Camp is a week long escape from everyday life that is packed full of great activities, awesome adventures and mostly fun and friendship for people affected by neuromuscular conditions.
The demands placed on families affected by muscular dystrophy can be considerable, and exhausting. Muscular Dystrophy NSW’s camp offers respite for these families, allowing a week of R&R for parents and carers, with the reassurance of knowing that their children will be in the care of professional and dedicated staff. For a child with muscular dystrophy, camp is a chance for them to learn, interact with peers and enjoy experiences they may not otherwise be able to do.
Above all, Muscular Dystrophy NSW’s camp is a chance for our campers to creating lasting friendships and memories and HAVE FUN!
At Muscular Dystrophy NSW, we believe that everyone, regardless of age or physical ability should have the same opportunities to experience and enjoy life. Camp provides a unique environment where activities are designed to promote positive self esteem and encourage social interaction and memorable experiences. Camp is about making the most of everyday.
Thanks to the generosity of Ageing, Disability and Home Care, we are now running 2 x great camps per year in April and September. Click here to find out all the details of our upcoming camps and camps we have run previously.
To date, we have had three Retreats where a group of carers and/or people with a neuromuscular condition stayed at Stay City in Darling Harbour for a weekend getaway and a night out at the theatre to see Cats, Fame the musical or Dr Zhivago. Our fourth Retreat saw us travel to Melbourne for a culinary experience of a lifetime. These Retreats have been extremely popular, with all the spaces being booked within a short time of advertising. Due to their remarkable popularity and wonderful benefits they provide, ADHC are now generously funding 2 x Retreats per year.
Information about our Retreats in 2012 will be available soon.
