Regional and Rural NSW
Muscular Dystrophy NSW supports individuals and families living in regional and rural NSW affected by a neuromuscular condition. Areas covered include Far North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, Far South Coast, Riverina/Murray, Orana/Far West, Central West, New England and the Mid North Coast regions.
We provide a wide range of support and assistance according to individual needs which can be discussed either via phone, our home visiting program or email – whatever suits you best! Our aim is to help you identify which services best suit your needs and how you can access them, either by linking you into your local community, or by informing you about what services MDNSW can provide such as equipment or respite funding for example.
The team at MDNSW also coordinates a variety of Events and Programs for those living in regional areas including Couples’ Retreats, Boccia tournaments, Weekend Getaways for Mums, Fishing Trips for Dads, Christmas Parties, our popular Camp Program, social groups, and our Award winning Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. People living in the regions can often feel extremely isolated and alone. These great events provide our members with unique opportunities to meet new people who are in similar situations to themselves which can often lead to the development of lifelong friendships.
