Celebration and smiles at our AGM and Community Day!

On Saturday, 26th November, members of our neuromuscular community got together to celebrate the end of the year. We all had a fun time catching up with friends, enjoying a delicious lunch and getting involved in the many activities.

There was face painting, balloon twisting, lego, giant jenga, boccia and a craft stall! We even had a visit from Santa who gave out presents to all of the kids – you couldn’t get the smiles of their faces.

Thank you to the Tennis Centre at Sydney Olympic Park for hosting and for providing such a wonderful, accessible venue and delicious catered lunch. Thanks also to our wonderful team of staff who organised the day and helped out, and most importantly thank you to our amazing community of members who make events like this so special and worthwhile. We loved getting together and seeing you all in person!

AGM Summary

Prior to the Community Day, we held our Annual General Meeting, which saw the release of our Impact Report, as well as a presentation from Patrick who described his experience in the Coogee Surf Life Saving Program we’ve partnered on.

Current MDNSW President, Anthony Ball, will maintain his role for another year. To see the MDNSW Board members and read their bio’s, click here.

Community Access & Recreation Service (CARS) Development Update:

Development of CARS has been placed on hold. Recent changes to the NDIS pricing arrangements have meant that the fun, personalised and flexible service we hoped to offer is not currently possible under the new arrangements.

In the meantime, we encourage our community to get involved in Peer Connect weekends, groups and workshops. We’ll keep you updated if we are able to find a suitable alternative for CARS in future!
