Occupational Therapist – Physical Disability/Neuromuscular Specialist (Casual)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Casual Occupational Therapist to provide essential support to the members of Muscular Dystrophy NSW (MDNSW). You will play a pivotal role in supporting our members to achieve their goals and live the life they choose, as well as supporting the development of this brand-new allied health service at MDNSW.

Muscular Dystrophy NSW is a membership-based not-for-profit organisation supporting people living with neuromuscular conditions and their families. Our mission is to empower, connect and support people with neuromuscular conditions, and be an effective advocate for the neuromuscular community!

About the role

We are currently growing our capacity to serve the neuromuscular community’s needs through the provision of specialist NDIS services. Occupational Therapy is the starting point for this, and that is where you come in!

This flexible new role provides the opportunity to work in a community/home setting, providing clinical assessments and therapeutic interventions across a broad range of rare and complex neuromuscular conditions.

In addition to direct client work, you will have the opportunity to support the overall growth and development of the allied health service through networking, quality assurance and the upskilling of the broader MDNSW team.

You will be highly autonomous in your role, although you will have regular line and clinical supervision available to you. We encourage creative thinking, challenging “the norm” and most importantly, we value dedication and passion to the work.

The ideal candidate will have

  • An Occupational Therapy qualification and relevant AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 4 years experience as an Occupational Therapist working in Neuromuscular/complex physical disability
  • Experience developing programs and providing training, for both participants and staff, relating to Assistive Technology, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Neuromuscular Conditions
  • Full Driver’s Licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines, manage budgeted hours and timeframes to ensure timely completion of reports

Hours of work

This is a casual position. Work hours and workdays will be flexible to meet both the successful applicant and client needs.

Depending on the growth of the service, there may be future opportunities to transition this role to part/full-time.

Salary inclusions

Hourly rate $60 – $94.99 per hour subject to experience with 10% superannuation.
