What is Muscular Dystrophy?

Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic, neuromuscular condition which results in the progressive deterioration of muscle strength and function. Muscular Dystrophy is an umbrella term commonly used to describe more than 60 types of complex, degenerative Neuromuscular Conditions (NMCs), and affects 1 in 1000 people of all ages.

eLearning training sessions which aim to provide health and community care professionals with an awareness of neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) and the impact of NMDs on the lives of individuals and families.

Neuromuscular Fact Sheets

These fact sheets can be used as a basic training and education tool for people who are newly diagnosed, living with a neuromuscular condition or their families and carers. The sheets can also be used by others involved in their lives such as NDIS Local Area Coordinators, NDIA planners, therapists, service providers and support workers.

Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Neuromuscular Digital Resource (NDR)

Currently under construction, the NDR will be a ‘one stop shop’ to medical research, news and information on Muscular Dystrophy for the whole of Australia. Due to go live mid-2020, this great new resource will complement our Life Info and Medical Info.

Conferences

Building for the Future Neuromuscular Conference 2016 - Jointly organised by; Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, Duchenne Foundation, Australasian Neuromuscular Network and Muscular Dystrophy NSW. The conference brought together people living with a neuromuscular condition, world leading researchers, clinicians, allied health professionals, service providers, representatives of the NDIS and industry providers.
