Interview with a Camper – Adventure Camp 2024

Adventure Camp is a place where teamwork, challenges and fun come together in the great outdoors. This year Adventure Camp was held at the Tops Conference Centre, with activities such as bottle rockets, abseiling, and high ropes.

We recently sat down with Cody, aged 11, to get an exclusive insight on 2024 Adventure Camp – the ins and outs, and the inside scoop of what happens at Adventure Camp!

Cody, aged 11, on the last day of camp with Camp Manager Laura and Camp Carer Lachlan.

Describe one of your favourite activities at camp. Why did you like it so much?
I loved doing the high ropes. At first l was nervous, then l watched some of my friends doing it then l had the courage to try it myself.

Who were your friends at camp, and did you meet anyone new?
My friends at camp were Harry and Alex. I know Harry from my Power Wheelchair Soccer team and Alex has been in my room for the last couple of years at camp.

Did you learn any new skills or try something you’d never done before? What was it?
I have never tried the giant swing. It was so much fun but l was also a little scared at the same time.

How did you feel on the first day of camp compared to the last day? Why?
On the first day of camp l was a bit nervous just getting to know the kids l didn’t know and the carers, but on the last day l didn’t want to go home because l had such a good time.

Tell me about a funny or surprising moment that happened at camp.
When my carer was having a rest l came into the room honking my horn so it scared him. It was so funny watching his face.

Are you going to camp again next year, what are you looking forward to the most?
I am definitely going to go to camp again next year. I am really looking forward to doing the high ropes and giant swing again because they were so much fun.
