MD Makers gonna make!
18 people from our neuromuscular community gathered for MDNSW’s first Makers Day at the Dooleys Silverwater Club. It was really special to listen to each maker’s story and learn the ‘what, why and how’ of their craft.
Andrew Grant is artist who works with oil on canvas and has adapted his methods and motivations over time. Andrew demonstrated his Ardero mechanical arm which supports him to paint.
Daniel Ferguson is a qualified jeweller, designing and creating bespoke handcrafted jewellery pieces for his own business DDF Jewellers.
Scott Green set up a market stall selling his lovely, scented candles (which smell divine!), his beautiful soaps and handmade cards he has created for his Duke of Edinburgh Award.
And our Peer Connect Coordinator Carolyn was MC and shared her scrapbooking and 20 yearlong passion for papercrafts.
Phil Bates came all the way from Newcastle to entertain us with his beautiful acoustic folk music.
After a delicious finger food lunch, the group got hands on with mini terrariums making and creative canvas collage! Of course, a lot of networking and connecting occurred throughout the day. So much talent in one room, a huge thank you to all the creatives who so generously contributed to this event.
