MDNSW receives $520,000 donation from the Golden Eagle charity race
A recap from MDNSW Board members, Nathan Teong & Tait Jenkins.
“Well, what an amazing day! Joined by both our partners, we were lucky enough to experience a day to remember at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday 29th October. We don’t think we’ve ever screamed at a horse so much in our lives!
To be honest, from where we were watching (just past the finishing post) we thought ‘I Wish I Win’ got pipped on the line but happily the photo proved otherwise.
After the win, we were escorted by a representative Racing NSW down to the Parade Ring to meet the trainer, Peter Moody, who was very welcoming and so happy to see the industry giving back to charity.
He mentioned that the industry gets a bad rap from many parties, but it’s not all bad and this initiative shows that. Following a photo and brief chat, we were then taken into the Winners Room for a photo with the trophy. Luckily, Racing NSW accidentally had a 2nd winners sash made, which they gifted to MDNSW.
Following that, we were taken back out to the Parade Ring where we had a photo with the jockey, Luke Nolan. He’d just jumped off his ride in the 9th race (he was still puffing!), so unfortunately didn’t have time for a chat. Following that, both of us were interviewed by SkyRacing where we conveyed our thanks to the connections and briefly explained how the funds would be used. We then had a quick chat and photo with the CEO of Racing NSW, Peter V’Landers. We thanked him and explained how much it meant to the MDNSW community in the current environment.
Such an amazing experience and one neither of us will ever forget.”
