MD associations around Australia fund a variety of research projects over a broad spectrum of leading areas of research. Grants are made following careful assessment by scientific advisory committees.

For many years substantial grant allocations have been made for important and cutting edge work some of which has led to important breakthroughs in treatment of neuromuscular conditions.

While continuing scientific and medical breakthroughs give us much hope and encouragement, it may be many years before a significant discovery or promising early trial eventually leads to safe and reliable treatments or cures.
