Launch of the 2022 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup
The 2022 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup was launched at Parramatta’s Bankwest Stadium on Thursday 29th April, 2021. The event will bring the world’s best powerchair footballers to Australia in October 2022. Powerchair football is a version of soccer specifically modified for powerchair users, using custom bumpers and an oversized football.
MDNSW Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales was there to unveil the event logo and took the time to pose with rising superstar Josh Ryan as well.
Organising Committee member and Australian Poweroos hopeful Chris Suffield had this to say:
Having the opportunity to host the powerchair football world cup is a dream come true, and I have been overwhelmed by the support we have received so far. We’ll be working hard to make this the best event we can, and we have a fantastic team volunteering their time to make this the success it deserves to be.
We hope to see you in the crowd cheering on the Australian Poweroos, Australia’s national powerchair football team, next October.
