Entitlements and Concessions
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The NDIS is available for people with a significant and permanent disability aged 0-65 years. Participants of the NDIS design a plan of supports and individual funding package to assist them with achieving their goals. If you meet the eligibility criteria you can apply to become a participant by completing an Access Request Form, available directly from the NDIS.

My Aged Care

Enable
EnableNSW provides equipment and services to people in NSW with chronic health conditions or disability to assist them with mobility, communication and self-care. Please note that if you are an NDIS participant you will need to apply for assitive technology to be included in your NDIS plan and you will not be eligible for ENABLE.

Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS)
CAPS provides financial assistance to eligible people who have permanent and ongoing incontinence as a result of disability. A nominal payment is made each year direct to consumer’s nominated bank account.
If this funding does not cover your requirements for the year, supplemental funding may be available through ENABLE (see item above). Please note that if you are an NDIS participant you will need to apply for continence aids to be included in the consumables / core budget in your NDIS plan and you will not be eligible for CAPS.

Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS)
IPTAAS is the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme. This is a NSW Government scheme providing financial assistance towards travel and accommodation costs when a patient needs to travel long distances for treatment that is not available locally.

Disability Support Pension
Income support for people with disability aged 16 – 65. Not all people with all neuromuscular conditions are eligible but many are.

Mobility Allowance
Mobility Allowance is an income support payment paid to people with a disability, aged 16 or over, who cannot use public transport without substantial assistance and are required to travel to and from their home in order to undertake approved activities, which include work, study, training or job search. Please note if you have an NDIS plan transport allowance may be included so you cannot receive Mobility Allowance as well.

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres
The national network of CRCCs provides a link to carer support services and assists carers with options to take a break through short-term and emergency respite. Where appropriate, a CRCC can help with putting in place regular respite for a carer to reduce the need for unplanned and emergency respite. CRCCs provide free and confidential information on local carer support, disability and community services.

Companion Card NSW
The Companion Card allows people with a significant and permanent disability who require attendant care for the rest of their lives to participate in community activities and events. The card can be presented when booking or purchasing a ticket at events and venues, and gives the cardholder a second ticket for their companion/carer/support worker at no charge.

Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
To be eligible for a concessional benefit on prescription medication, you will require one of the following concession cards:
- Pensioner Concession Card;
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card;
- Health Care Card; or
- DVA White, Gold, or Orange Card.
Special Child Care Benefit
12 weeks of childcare costs covered due to medical condition/ special circumstances.

In-home childcare
Covers part of the cost of a nanny in the home.
Both Special Child Care Benefit and In-home childcare are useful for parents experiencing difficulties caring for young children due to an NMC eg to attend rehab/ medical appointments.
Chronic disease management plan
Rebates for allied health sessions as set up by your GP. Good for accessing physio, podiatry, psychology, speech therapy or OT pre diagnosis / pre NDIS.
